As some of you may be aware I have been battling to build my "dream" Capri with the aid of a local panel

shop. My original Capri I was building turned out to have some issues and had to be scuttled. I started on a

new body and as seems to be the usual case the car is now over time and over budget but at least now it is at

a stage where I feel comfortable posting up some progress pics. Most of these pics were taken today but some

were from a little earlier on in the build to show the odd this and that.

Car leaves on Monday for the 6 point cage. Plenty to go after that of course just felt maybe it was time for

an update.

I forgot to add that it has an adjustable bias Wilwood Pedal box, Noltec strut tops and an anti-dive kit.

Also a 2800 Dominator convertor. Will fit a higher one at some point later on.

Looks the business there Wattsy nice work on the trans tunnel & the rear 4 bar setup, I am guessing but I would imagine you looking at entering super street with that combo.

Once it is registered and I get a few km's on it then I will be looking to hit the track.

My main goal is to cruise the wheels off it.

Took some shots of the roll cage today. Panel shop are doing lots of finishing off and cleaning up now including the fill panel work around the cage install. Quite happy with how tight the cage is to the body. Waiting on the local ANDRA rep to come and have a squiz. The cross brace is tied into the rear clip cross piece that holds the upper coilover brackets and the longer bars tie in to the rear of the clip.

We will follow the build, once a little further along you will see more interest. Do not lose hope, be strong and build this legend of a car...Make sure you build the car for you and not everyone else... I watch closely...Good luck Dean :-)

TOP WORK!

did you have to stretch the rear wheel arches to fit rear wheels that size?

Wow... just when I thought no one cared! :P

I was able to purchase some rust repair sections from a UK mob which then closed down which is a pity as the sections and sills I ordered were great. About 2-3 inches was added into the middle of the wheel arch sections when they were fitted. Glad I used all the repair panels due to the little surprises that were lurking between some panels, particularly in the sills.

By way of update: the panel shop has slowly been making progress. Steering column (I am using an AU collapsable column with the combination switch etc) and brake pedal is all in and stitched up. Shifter is mounted and the surround made. Handbrake handle is in. Axles are supposed to arrive this week from the US so the diff can be buttoned up. Sump is back in Victoria being modified.. again... bonnet is mounted with the struts in place. I decided I didn't like polishing stuff so I have had my air filter, inlet manifold and rocker covers all painted.

Engineer came out a few weeks back and did a preliminary inspection and passed everything on the car which I was pleasantly surprised about. I was a bit nervous about some of the major mods but he was happy enough.
