What a great couple of days! I've been up in central queensland and stopped in Bundaberg today to purchase the following!

711M 6015BA "high compression" engine from a 1975 escort with 234 cam! woot woot
Came with 4 speed box, engine mounts, starter motor, chrome air cleaner and factory exhaust manifold.

When I have some time, the blocks will be getting swapped over and maybe convert to manual.
I have a question. To make the swap quicker I was thinking of removing the head of my current motor, leaving the DCOE carb, manifolds all attached (my extractors have a flange plate) and bolting it all onto the HC block. Do you think there may be some differences in the HC head that means I would need to use it?

Anyway, here are some pics

And one of the esky

very nice neat car. Wheels look great. Not many people stick with black wheels and dress rims. Good job.

Thanks fahley. The car is a sunday cruiser, I don't see the need for alloys. The SAAB rims have been a cheap way to get some 15's and I think they look great aswell.

Just a quick update. I have the HC motor on a stand now. Having it suspended there at working height has given me the bug again. I want to do a compression test and then get head & sump  off and inspect some more. Can't wait to get the block all cleaned up and painted

Thanks Panko. Nice score with the MK1. Are you going to put some pics up for us?
If you have any questions just fire away, I'm happy to help. Although you may get better answers by posting in the HELP forum.

I got stuck into the engine swap tonight. So far pulled most bits out leaving just the block. So tomorrow night I'll get it out and maybe bolt the sump and head onto the HC block. It only took a couple of hours to get all that done. I forget how quickly things happen with classic cars... so easy to work on.

Some progress pics
Thanks to Peter for the pedal box and Phil/escort shop for the drive shaft.
On a side note I threw the stock and saab wheels on the scales to compare weights. Very big difference, 5kg per wheel! So the 12"  pizza cutters might be going back on at some stage hahaha.
