So the transplant is well underway! I'm so glad to be swapping a xflow for another xflow. It has saved me a lot of time and money being able to use compatible parts from the 1300. So far I have the 1300 out and have taken off the sump to use on the 1600. This is because the 1600 was on an manual box and it will be mating to my auto which has 2 more support bolts down the bottom. I removed the spigot bearing from the 1600 crank with the old "grease and hammer" trick. It took about 5 mins and two sockets but finally got there lol.
Had a win yesterday when installing the manual choke cable. There was a hole in the firewall being used by an electrical wire for the windscreen squirter. It was a good reason to get rid of that ugly reservoir bottle from the engine bay. Choke cable is now in its place and using a factory hole inside the car.
Managed to scrounge an engine mount from the 1300 to use on the 1600. I've tidied up the wiring a little, mainly making sure all the copper and lugs are well connected. I'll be spraying the bay black again, it's looking very patchy atm. All I'm needing is a sump gasket and the 1600 will be going in.
Oh yeah, I am putting on a single DCOE 40, and was told to block off the 2 vac ports on the distributor which I've done. I think the initial timing will need to be advanced a little. Any help in this dept will be greatly appreciated.
I'll get some pics uploaded tomorrow. It would have been good to get a before and after, but the 1.3 is out already. It's great to be able to take my time and not rush the work. Very satisfying.
thanks
