Thanks Evan
I had the fronts fitted with that size today.
You're right, they do fit well. Tyre diameter is 14mm less than the 205's on the rear, so I may wind the front coils up a little. It's hard to tell if that needs doing. Some time with the car will tell

Love Globes on a Mk1. I'm a bit old school (and old) so I like the fatter tyre. 185 is probably a good compromise on a 6" wheel.

Agreed. I like the fact they're pretty much a ford wheel (think XA GT falcon) And the black/ alloy contrasts remind me of the RS4 spokes which always compliment a Mk1. Cheers Cam

I never knew the Cibie Oscars were popular with the 4x4 guys. Because of that there are plenty of second hand sets about. I got these for $80 and they cleaned up very well indeed! I'm on the look out for some brackets if anyone can steer me in the right direction, (preferably Australian made/ supplied) I'm just wanting the pair which mount them in line with grille.
Before anyone asks, I'm putting these on for practical reasons. Not decoration :)  I went for a spin up the mountains at dusk a week ago, I reckon it will be a lot more fun with these on!

Hey Scott. They look good, I only have this crappy pic off my phone. The last week has been pretty hectic with work, cars and cleaning up my shed. It's nice to have some room to move in the shed. Heaps done on my MK1 yesterday after a job cancellation. Installed thermo tec insulation and new carpets. If I ever need to do this again I will be employing the services of a professional auto trimmer. Enough said!!! Still the job went really well, just time consuming because I hadn't done it before. It really helped having the factory matting still intact under my old carpets to use as templates. Very good product and the perfect amount for an Escort coupe.

Test drove the car tonight and the sound dampening from the insulation is very good! As are the spotties. The car is very enjoyable right now. 3.77 diff, 5 speed sierra box, outlaw carb, new carpets & spotties, alloys & 205's. I'll be swapping out the front springs next. Going to a 5kg as opposed to the 6kg that came in the kit.  And also getting a quick rack at some stage. Aside from the paint & panel which isn't too bad, the car is near perfect..

Sounds like it's coming along very nice.

First thing I've done to any escort I've owned is quick rack and nolothane bushes.

Spoties look great.

Beware SAAS steering wheels! I just returned mine for a refund today after the RH spoke creased from merely rolling the car in & out of the shed over the past 12 months.

I bought a good used Nardi ND Classico to replace it. A worthy upgrade
