The 42's are up & running. But both the T and 90deg banjos leaked a lot of fuel. So I nipped up a bit more. I'll check them again tomorrow when vapours are all gone.

Thanks Matt. I'm pretty happy how it's turned out. Just need a throttle cable bracket then some fun :) Also discovered (once the old manifold was removed) head has been mildly ported and polished.

Sounds ahhh, epic :D I flattened off the machined edges of banjos and sealed with Epoxy resin. No leaks. Peter, Dave from Recarb was most impressed with your port/ polish work on the manifold :)

A few little changes with my escort over the past 6 months. I put 13x5" steels on with 165 70 13 "Achilles" brand tyres which (much to my surprise) has made the car much more enjoyable to drive. Sure, it doesnt corner as hard but it's much lower and softens up the ride with the high spring rates I have.

Also the idle jet holder thread on my 32/36 carb body was stripped pretty badly, ruining the seat. So rather than replace same for same I upgraded to a reconditioned 38/38 from Carbtec who installed & tuned it for me.
It packs enough punch to notice the difference. I think the max power has moved higher up the rev range. Induction noise sounds nice too with the K&N filter.
Time for another test run at the track.

Hope you have a better run this time.

Cheers Peter. I'm guessing a few tenths will get shaved off, if I can get a good jump off the line. Throttle feel is a lot different with this carb and will take some getting used to

what?
Maybe I missed something but why did you change from the twin 42's to the 38/38?

They couldn't be tuned for whatever reason.
If I decide to go with twins again it will be with a NEW pair of 45 DCOE 152G carbs.
