Tuning carbs for under load on stands
Just had an idea, may sound silly but want to see what you think...
First of all installed R1 carbs on a 2.0 mk2 escort.
I've got a gunson colortune on the way, which may be good for tuning the idle mixture, but obviously a wideband would be perfect to take readings while under load/cruise to tune my carbs...
So how bout it I put the car on stands, run the car in various gears, apply brake and take colortune readings under the bonnet to simulate the car under load by applying brake or handbrake and adjust the mixture/drill jets to suit?
I had a search round on the net and couldn't find any info on this technique...
Just trying to get things sorted for the time being, I'll probably try this anyways and let you know if I have any success :)
Cheers,
Rob

You would want to make sure it is very securely mounted on the stands. Not sure if work & safety would allow it though.
It will ned to be tuend on a Dyno anyway so just use your Gunson dealie to get it about right and then get it on a Dyno.
Your idea whilst it may work could go wrong fast. Be careful.
Cheers,
Matt
