Ok
I thought maybe blue ice? Seemed to early for true blue

True Blue and Blue Ice are both listed as being 1970 Capri colours, so Jamie may well be right!

Current ride:
'83 Mk.3 Capri, 2.8i, 5-spd

Yes my favourite colour!

I can't imagine the gestapo treatment stops at the border - if it happens I'll just make sure everything is ticked off

Does it matter.  Without a compliance plate wouldn't it just be a parts car anyway?

No it’s a V6 Capri. New number can be restamped by Authorities and it’s a true V6 Capri. Same point with an imported V6 from other countries. If it’s a beautiful car who cares. I’m selling a numbers matching car from my collection because I have too. It’s my second best car and irreplaceable on its quality. I don’t love it and go out and check it’s numbers match everyday. I haven’t looked at them really since I bought it.
I do know it has been built well and that’s the whole reason I bought it in the first place.
I don’t take it to shows I enjoy it for myself. Also everyone I drive past and park next too enjoy it too.
Their never going to be Falcon GT here no matter how long we wait. So just enjoy the car.

I was referring to Spuds earlier comment that it is awful and doesn't have the plate so was wondering, even if it was worth restoring would it be possible to register it without the compliance plate.

Nothing to do with the matching numbers debate.

Yes no compliance plate is a bit of a let down and does affect the price of a car - to me.

(Wiggys right - u can get the rego sorted without one).
This car does come with another good shell so it may not be a hassle.
I may just wreck it in NZ (if I get it) and post parts back.
( the matching numbers thing - there shouldn't be a debate - matching numbers can affect the value of a car - no doubt- just not important to me - who cares anyway)

I enjoy the task of resurrecting a capri out of a rusty old piece of junk - ie like the "rough 69" project on the forum - making all those panels - what a buzz - that's talent!

that's my joy ( seems to be plenty of capris in that condition out there!)

That's interesting that they can be rego'd.  There was an XA falcon here in WA on the market for ages, good price but no tags, which I assumed was the reason no one was touching it.

No compliance plate wasn't a problem getting a Capri registered in Perth twenty odd years ago. I did up a 1600 for my son and in the long process of restoration the compliance plate got lost, it was taken off when the engine bay was painted and when the time came to put it back on couldn't find it anywhere. We had no trouble registering it as long as the engine number and VIN were legible, and it was roadworthy of course.

Yes you can. They will print the details that should be on the tag to paper. You must then keep a copy in the glove box except we don’t have one. They certainly study the car though.
