Mk1 Mexico (1975 2 Door) SOLD

Hi,
Sadly I'm putting my Mk1 Mexico replica up for sale.  I'm finding it too hard to focus on two cars and want to spent more time on my Mk2 project.
1975 2 Door, auto shell, the '75 shells have the upright rear shocks (similar to the mk2's).   She is on club reg.  I have a set of twin 40 Webber's, manifold and linkages that are available separately.

Engine
  • 1600 Kent 711 Block
  • Fully balanced
  • Lightened flywheel
  • Heavy duty clutch
  • Scorcher dizzy
  • Webber 32/36 carb with Ghia air filter
  • Pacemaker extractors
  • 1 3/4 inch exhaust.  Nice and quiet with a great note.
  • Bosch alternator (with custom large pulley - better for high revving engines)
  • Cosworth A2 cam
  • Capri GT head
  • Electric fuel pump
  • Battery 6 months old
Interior
  • Front seats in excellent condition with no rips in vinyl (I've only got the seat covers because I don't like the feel of the vinyl)
  • 6 Dial dash
  • CISA leather sports wheel
  • New fibreglass rear parcel shelf
  • Top of rear seat vinyl is in poor condition
  • The roof lining has a small rip in it (my son decided to see how elastic it was and pushed his finger though it.....not very elastic after 35 years)
Brakes/Suspension
  • Mk2 2l Reinforced Peter Davis Rally spec struts
  • Adjustable bias pedal box
Gearbox
  • Stock 4 speed
  • Single piece tail shaft
Exterior
  • Cheviot alloys with near new tyres
  • Original paint
  • Front left guard resprayed, its a close match but its still obvious
  • Mexico lights/grill & new 1/4 Bumperettes
  • Mexico badges
  • The general body condition is good but there are a few marks, there is a small dent on the right rear near the fuel filler
Rust
  • Minimal rust with a couple of small spots.
  • Plenum is rust free, its the noise trim glue in the photos.

I'm asking $4500.  The car is always garaged and lives at Phillip Island.

Cheers

Mark

The lack of interest has me worried! This is a great price for a MK1 2door that appears to be in great condition, and had plenty spent on it. I see crappy old shells going for above 1K all the time on ebay, god knows how many thousands would need to be spent getting them to this condition. GL with it,

I agree, seems to be a good little car for the money.  I would post fresh pic's and details on the floors, sills and A post condition.  If I was in a diferent position as usual I would certainly go have a look.  Stick it on feebay and it will get sold I think.  Good luck.

Thanks guys for the support.  I'm pleased to say that the car is going to someone who will appreciated her and is not planning to ship the car overseas just to make a quick buck.

Good work on winning the mk1 RSman. It looks like an excellent little car.
I was one of the watchers too sorry, if I'd had the cash I would have bought it.

The auction added a couple of years to my life as well.  In the last three days of the auction the phone was running hot.  I was surprised there wasn't more interest at the original price, but that said am glad a forum member bought it and its not going to find its way into a container to be shipped O/S.
