capri's

i picked up this 3.0s in christchurch a few weeks back - the joy is it cost $12,000 NZD which was $9400 AUD. That was with the NZD at $.78 AUD. Now it would be better. Costs @ $3K (AUD) to get it back - everything inc. This one is extremely clean - no rust etc - is as good as it looks in the pics. (loaded it up with parts i want!) There is another silver Mk3 on trademe - in Nelson - it is very original and clean. You could pick it up for $7000 NZD - @$5400 AUD. The red mk 1 in Nelson was heavily hit or i would have taken it ....

That looks like a nice car. What is the procedure in getting a personally imported car registered in Australia? Is there any exemption for compliance for cars of a certain age?

    Cheers

    Hi Jamie
with cars over a certain age (like ths one) it is an easy proceedure to get them in. With this one my freight forwarder is handling it all - he told me to buy it as it was a given.I had to supply a pic, car details and proof of purchase. (The last one i did needed no mods to register - just a roadworthy.) They do get narky if it is modified. (It cost me $9.20 (NZD) to transfer it into my name in NZ!). Front up to any post office - fill out the paper work, pay the $9.20 - send everything off and wait 6 weeks odd ...
Could be really worth while on an original Mk 1 V6 in good nick out of NZ - they seem to bring ok money here now. Mk 3's - well i got it for a nice price in the end but i wouldn't make big time cash out of it if I sold it here .. I just saw the car and fell in love!!! The dollar diff pays for the import costs.

Awesome - I really like the mk3's. Did you fly over and inspect or just do it all via the net?

hi JR - no not bringing any doors over - i dont have any i want to off load at present (none on trademe as spares at present).
No - looked on trademe before i left - made a list of cars and looked at a few while there. The gold one is original factory - no dings or rust. The v6 in Nelson (see below) - looked better than the trademe pics when i rocked up - i thought - wow! But heaps of body deadener to the sub floor and boy had it been hit hard a few times. The seller told me that it was ace though!

I have a couple of boot spoilers but a bit moth eaten by the sun. The X pack is on hold - i dont make the time to do it. Half the reason latched onto this one - i'll air condition it and drive it

    Hi Jamie

Not sure where u would get one of those taillight garnishes - see them on ebay UK now and then.
With the importing thing - if its a modified - they will let it thru if you have receipts for the work being done prior to Jan 1989. After that - its a struggle
