Teal Glow
HI everyone, I've been the owner of this well known 'Teal Glow' since earlier this year and thought I would post a couple of pictures. I know most of you have seen it before but I will give you a small update on what I have done (not much really). I bought this car with the intention of having a Capri with very little to do on it - luckily it has turned out that way. Here is a list of improvements I have done. - added the NOS side fake rear vents as per the correct year - removed the rear chrome boot trim and had it straightened of the dents it had. - had the cracks/chip in the dash fixed (these were around the switches) - and covered it with a wood grain repair patch - fixed interior light - rewired and remounted the map light with the correct mounting bracket, facing away from the driver (thanks Norm) - added original style mudflaps. - added original style spotlight covers - replaced the radio which was in it with an original one of the correct year. - installed a new speaker with the template of an old speaker so it fits under the dash using the correct holes. I also installed an IPOD amplifyer which fits nicely next to the speaker, A wire then goes down the centre console and comes out near the handbrake - this can be easily hidden for shows - windscreen washers were repaired (hoses replaced) with the exception of that (and i'm sure ive missed one or two things she is running sweet. The pictures are from a show I entered on the weekend. regards Paul

Paul, JR used to shed a tear whenever I posted pictures of Teal Glow, now I get to shed a tear when I see pictures of the car shown. Great to see the car in such fantastic condition, and great to see that she's gone to a wonderful home.

Chaps,
this article on my Capri was published in the Sunday Times over here in Perth last weekend. I believe it is going to go nation wide in the next week or so. You can see it at this link

Hi Paul
Can you tell me a bit more about the Ipod amplifier you use (brand? how it needs to be wired in?) I would be interested in a similar setup.

Mike,
it couldnt be easier to install an IPOD amplifyer and its very cheap - forget the stereo shops they rip you off. Basically you need one of these
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Stereo-Hi-Fi-Amplifier-Mp3-Ipod-Car-Motorcycle-A6-/140463298434?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20b443d782
and one of these
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/3-5mm-CAR-STEREO-AUX-AUXILIARY-CABLE-CORD-iPOD-/170569502641?pt=AU_Electronics_Accessories_Wires_Cables&hash=item27b6bc0fb1
then just buy a small piece of speaker cable. Thats all you need.
All you need to do is wire the new amp to you speaker then connect the power lead (supplied) to the auxillary in you car, that way you always leave the amp switched on. I placed the amp next to the speaker (in the opriginal spot under the dash) no need to fix it down or anything it just basically site there next to the speaker. Then you get the IPOD lead (1.5 meter long) plug it into the back of the amp, run it down the dash and under the center console and it pops out near the handbrake. Once thats done you simply plug your IPOD/Phone into the 3.5mm plug. All in all mine cost about $25 and that includes postage from Hong kong. Very very cheap and easy way of getting digital tunes with the added benefit of not needing to install an Aerial into your car as the IPD cable is the aerial aswell.
Just be aware when I bought my 1.5m cable from hong kong (the one listed) It wasn't the best quality - I did end up going to Tandy/richard Smith and buying a much better quality gold plated one, and the quality of tunes was %100 better (this cost about $5 - $10, although for 99c you may aswell give it a go first.
hope this helps - it really is easier than it sounds

Hi all, nothing new going on with my Capri - I just rolled it out and gave it a bit of a polish over the weekend so thought I would post a couple of photo's - I went for a great 200km cruise to the GinGin British car day last Sunday - I was swamped by E-types/Rollers/Bently's and Aston martins - I was the only one with a mk1 Capri amongst about 500 cars. However it was a great day out regards Paul

Very nice artwork! There's a couple of pics of her in the latest Australian Muscle Car magazine, issue #67, with the Wheeler dealer Monaro on the cover. The pics are on pages 64 and 65, with Brent at the wheel, in the article about 'The rise and fall of the big Aussie six'. Funny thing is though, there is no mention of any Capri's anywhere in the article!?!?

Thanks for the heads up - i'll go and have a look at the Magazine. I have not been out in my Capri for the last 6 months, she's been tucked away under a nice cover in my garage. British car day is coming up soon though so thats a good excuse to dust off the cob webs. regards Paul
