Volvo Calliper With Capri Turbo Disk Conversion

Girling Volvo Calliper With Capri Turbo/TX3 Disk Conversion

Written by Dave.

I’ve fitted Volvo 4 pot callipers, as well as vented and slotted disk rotors (from a KE Laser TX3 turbo). They are 260dia x 21mm, Part No. - DBA 101. The cost for vented and slotted rotors is $140 each, and any spares place can order them.

I just made up spacers to suit the mounting journal, opened out the 4 mount holes by 1 mm, slotted my Volvo callipers 6mm on the mill, then spaced them out 3mm and its all done. I just need a ‘Y’ piece made up (for the fluid lines), or to diagonally drill the fluid path in the calliper. This whole job took me 1 hour to mount.

I didn’t use the usual E30 BMW rotors for 2 reasons –

1) The TX3 application doesn’t require any mods to the hub.
2) They’re not as heavy.

From memory the inside measurement of the Girling Volvo callipers I have is 25mm (these have a large “G” cast into the housing). Mine are from a 1980s odd Volvo (244-260) sedan and the standard disks were ventilated. From memory I ‘could’ get the E30 disks in, but with very minimal clearance!!!
