Pinto Build 2

Hi All,

This thread is the second of the Pintos I am doing at the moment. This one is for a road/club car application. The aim is to see around 115-120rwkw. Some of the components are the same as the other thread, some are different. This is more for a budget build, alot of the components are not as good (eg: valves are 1/3 of the price of the others, Rods are 1/3 of the price of the Argos) but still give similar results, just not quite as good. The block and the head are both being machined and finally assembled by me at my work. This car runs twin 45mm webers on a Lynx manifold.

Valves (off the shelf, not custom like thread 1)

Pistons (SPS customs, the same as thread 1, except different pin height and diameter)

Rods (these are off the shelf Spool rods, 1.5mm longer than the standard pinto rod, standard pin size, but floating)

Dowelled & lightened flywheel and crank

Begining of headwork.

Will keep this thread going as progress goes like the other engine thread,

Cheers
Woz

The valves are off the shelf stainless items, 45mm and 38.3mm with wasted stems. They are from a company I deal with through work, I can supply them for $28 each+ freight,

OK, been a while since I had time to post here.

Due to my phone eating alot of photos, I only have a some of the pictures I took.

Pistons and rods ready to fit to block.

    Machining head surface

Setting valve heights in combustion chamber

Setting up valve length and rocker geometry

dummy spring fitted to check rocker wipe while setting valve lengths

    Assembled block

Cleaning threads ready to fit cyl head.

Head and cam fitted, dialing in camshaft.

Rear main seal, this is the one I use, am yet to have one fail.

    High volume sump assy.

    Assembled, ready for deliver.

Engine is now fitted to car, and almost ready for it's first run.

    Cheers,
    Woz

I buy them through work through a company called Precision International, you'll probably need to buy it through an engine reconditioning place, or possibly from Repco as they usually don't deal with the public. If you ring them they should tell you who in the area you can buy one off. If you have trouble I can get you one and send it to you, will get you a price if you like?

Specify that you want the Elring seal, or you'll get some other cheap crap.

    Cheers
