Escort 1976 mk2 Panel Van wipers
Hi, I'm doing up a Escort 1976 mk2 1.6 Panel Van which has the wiper arm missing. Can anyone tell me how to tell if your wiper setup is intermittent or not before i hunt down a replacement?

My MK2 was made in 1980 and does not have intermittent wipers, not sure if this was available on any escort unless after market.

On the other hand, I have a '79 van that does have intermittent wipers. The '79 catalogue says that only '79 GL and Ghia sedans had them, so it's likely they were retrofitted at some point by a previous owner.

My mark 2 79 van doesn't have them, but it is the L version of the car and is a close to original as we can make it

The stalks are different too. Intermittent wipers have a setting that is one notch down from the off position, whereas non-intermittent stalks have a spring-loaded momentary action when you push it down for a single sweep.

hi if your vehicle was fitted with intermittent wipe it will have a timer relay located near the top off the steering collum if you remove the covers you should see it there (you cant find it in any haynes books as i had a fault with my wipers not parking and my mk2 escort has intermittent wipe so traced all the wires and found the relay what was not shown in the haynes book fault turned out to be the switch) the relay has four wires going too it a one to earth one to the motor one to the wiper switch can't remember were the 4th wire goes hope this helps you

Hi, When going for a blue slip for my 1976 van what sort of exhaust/muffler can I have on it? Does it need to be as original or can I make it sound desent? Thanks

does not have to be original but just use common sense hence don't put a straight through pipe on it i had a stainless system made for mine with twin silancers sounds nice gives it a nice noise but not too loud. the engine and spec off it makes a big difference too what exhaust you will need

Parts list shows intermittent wipers were introduced 6/77 (but not on all models) which is when 2litre production started. Wiper/Light switches have their part No. on them 75AG 11K665 AB = 2 speed wipers 75AG 11K665 BA = 2 speed wipers + flick wipe 75AG 11K665 CA = 2 speed wipers + intermittent wipe

The graphics on the stalks themselves are different too, at very least in the latter two cases.

intermittent stalks will blow fuses if the van hasnt got intermittent set up, ( if you press down on the wiper stalk accidentally instead of the blinker stalk), haha going from the daily car to the van i do it quite often lol but i found a NOS none intermittent in germany, had it shipped, once fitted, does not blow any more fuses try europe ebay
